“Sun Glinting
on a Farm Gate”
Based on page 56 - 57, "The Landscape Painters Essential Handbook" by
Joe Francis Dowden. Published by David and Charles/UK, North
Light/USA.
This web page is designed to complement the book by showing detailed
step coverage of a similar painting to that shown on Page 57, so if you
have the book, now you can see exactly how this project was covered. The
information for this project is in the book.
The Landscape Painters Essential Handbook covers a very wide range of
material. There are over a dozen step by step projects, photographed as
they were painted. However, not all of the 50 projects are covered by
step photography. Some chapters deal with certain facets of the featured
project and refer the reader to other projects for methods of painting
other features of the painting being viewed. Other projects are designed
to highlight a variety of methods for painting similar things to those
featured. Some projects have simplified step by step sketches of the
central features of the main painting.
The photographs below are not of a high standard. However, they cover
every stage and show visually, without text every stage of the
painting.
